A highlight of any Croatian island hopping expedition, our Yacht tour of Korcula provides the perfect opportunity to sample the very best of the history and natural beauty that this popular island has to offer.
This fantastic Yacht trip provides the perfect introduction to those visiting Korcula for the first time, as well as for those simply wanting to rediscover its many pleasures! You’ll embark on a fascinating tour of the main historical sights, followed by a yacht cruise around the three islands archipelago which will include snorkeling stops, stand up paddleboarding and a mouth-watering Mediterranean lunch.
Commonly referred to as a “miniature Dubrovnik ”, it’s been said that Korcula encompasses the very best this country has to offer. From its glorious vineyards, plentiful olive groves and sleepy hamlets, to its dense woodland, sandy beaches and peaceful coves, this is undoubtedly one of the Adriatic’s most stunning destinations.
The island is the sixth largest in Croatia, spanning approximately 50km in length, and is fairly well-inhabited with a population of around 3,000. The locals take great pride in their island’s heritage and culture, with age-old traditions such as the Moreška sword dance still upheld in the numerous religious and folk festivities that adorn the calendar. Korcula is also renowned for its wines, with one of Croatia’s best wines being produced from the pošipgrapes that grow on the island. Around Lumbarda – where our villa is located – the grk grape is also used to produce a top quality dry white wine.
Korcula’s most popular attraction is its Old town, often referred to as the “Little Dubrovnik” owing to its gleaming orange rooftops, majestic stone walls and round defense towers. The town is compact but contains many beautifully preserved squares, churches and palaces which date from the early 13th century. One of Korcula’s main claims to fame is as the birthplace of the intrepid explorer Marco Polo, and you’ll have the chance to view the house where he’s said to have resided and to learn more about his life and travels in the dedicated museum.
